A Stingo was an old nickname for a strong barley wine and the Yorkshire Stingo really is the jewell in Samuel Smiths' crown. Aged for a year in oak casks, the complexity of this beer is mind boggling. Dark fruit, raisin and treacle toffee entwine the strong, oak backbone whilst notes of vanilla, marzipan and brown bread linger on the lengthy finish.

Originally founded in 1758, the Old Brewery in Tadcaster became home to Samuel Smith Brewery in 1886 and has remained independent ever since. With water still drawn from a well dating back to 1758 and a yeast strain over 100 years old still used, it is clear that this brewery is proud of it's history and tradition. A proper old brewery that makes beers of superb quality.
