Brown ales are a speciality of North England and the Nut Brown is a world class example of the style. Sweet, roasted aromas of toffee and nuts dominate the nose with a rich, malty palate full of caramel and butterscotch.

Originally founded in 1758, the Old Brewery in Tadcaster became home to Samuel Smith Brewery in 1886 and has remained independent ever since. With water still drawn from a well dating back to 1758 and a yeast strain over 100 years old still used, it is clear that this brewery is proud of it's history and tradition. A proper old brewery that makes beers of superb quality.
