Pauwel Kwak was an innkeeper who designed a special glass and wooden stand for coach drivers so they wouldn't spill their beer. His heroics in keeping beer in it's glass were immortalized by Bosteels and their strong amber ale is drunk from these special glasses to this day.

Bosteels Brewery was founded in 1791 and, to this day, remains under the control of the same family. Although they only brew three beers, they are three of the most famous and critically acclaimed brews available from Belgium and each has a uniqueness like no other.
