Named after Anchor's first brewmaster and inspired by the Brown Ale recipes found in the brewery archives, this beer is full of roasted spice flavour and dark plum fruits. It's genius is in it's relative lightness considering the big, bold flavours it displays.

The historic Anchor Brewery was saved from closure in 1965 by Frederick Louis Maytag III. He learned his craft, steadily improving the conditions and output of the brewery before releasing the iconic Anchor Steam in 1971. Still one of the only breweries to regularly produce this style of beer, Anchor has gone from strength to strength and is now widely regarded as one of the founding fathers of the American Craft Beer scene.
