Described by the brewery as the original craft beer, Liberty Ale was the first of the modern, well hopped pales to be brewed after prohibition, making it's first appearance in 1975. The aroma is floral and piney, the bitterness is long and lingering, the finish is light and clean. A perfect piece of history!

The historic Anchor Brewery was saved from closure in 1965 by Frederick Louis Maytag III. He learned his craft, steadily improving the conditions and output of the brewery before releasing the iconic Anchor Steam in 1971. Still one of the only breweries to regularly produce this style of beer, Anchor has gone from strength to strength and is now widely regarded as one of the founding fathers of the American Craft Beer scene.
